Canaan Valley Institute (CVI) is a nonprofit, non-advocacy organization committed to helping communities improve the quality of life in their watersheds by restoring aquatic resources using cost-effective, locally determined solutions.

CVI serves a 79000 square mile area and is headquartered in Thomas, West Virginia, and has additional staff located throughout the Mid-Atlantic Highlands. The primary goal of the organization is to help community organizations, government agency partners, and businesses solve two of the most widespread problems in the Mid-Atlantic Highlands: streambank erosion and polluted waters caused by inadequate wastewater treatment.
